The most celebrated season of the year. Around the world people finds time to gather and enjoy this joyous day. We saved this day as an extra special compared to the others.
How do you celebrate Christmas? Is it by taking a family vacation trip, having fun caroling in the neighborhood, by wrapping gifts for your loved ones, or by organizing charity events for our fellowmen.
Indeed, so many ways to spend this once a year merry event, but often we forgot its true meaning. Often adults look at it as the time to received cash gifts and bonuses and to buy “something new materials”. The concept is being passed on to the younger generation most of the time. It is being inculcated on their innocent mind that yuletide season is about money and materials. We forgot to share to them the true spirit of Christmas on a more mature and responsible level.
What is the true essence of Christmas? Do we really appreciate its main soul of celebration?
The yuletide season is perhaps the happiest season in this our predominantly Christian country. To feel the presence of Christmas season people adorn houses, streets, and nearby surroundings with Christmas tree, colorful light bulbs, Belen and other decorative materials. We even have customized songs intended for the season. The long month celebration is coupled with a “9 days simbang gabi” an early morning dawn mass. On the ninth day a celebration of Misa de Gallo, a midnight mass conducted on the Christmas day itself. The simple festivity is a meaningful commemoration. The Christmas observance is mostly seen among Christians all over the world.
Christmas season is purely an intangible, something that cannot be counted nor weighed but has a great impact on the human heart. It is simply defined as the time of giving whether small or big for as long as given freely. It maybe is the moment of forgiveness, giving pardon to something wrongly done. It is also a time of gratitude for the graces received for the whole year around.
Moreover, it is important that during the celebration we first cleanse our minds and heart as we start another season in our lives. A clean mind means a direct and clear disposition on every action. Thus, a clean heart is humbleness and free from anger towards other people.
The preparation and celebration is a way of returning to the Lord what He has done for us.
Have a joyous and blessed celebration on this yuletide season……God bless us all!!
